Spain is one of the most mature markets in Europe for renewables, with more than
16 GW of wind and 3 GWp of PV installed at the end of 2008.
Taking advantage of a relatively favorable legal framework for projects connected
to the grid before September 2008, Novenergia Spain has invested strongly in PV
and owns a portfolio of 7 projects totalizing 24 MWp.
The projects were all constructed between 2007 and 2008 and are today in full operation
and injecting electricity into the grid. They are evenly spread-out between Castilla-La-Mancha,
Extremadura, Murcia and Catalonia. Their capacities range from 1.58 to 6.06 MWp.
Technically, they use technologies varying from simple fixed-structure to two-axis
trackers. The two-axis structures allow some plants to have a production equivalent
to more than 1800 hours peak-power.
To sustain this structure and continue analyzing new projects, Novenergia España,
based in Barcelona, is composed of a 10 person team of engineers and economists
and led by Albert Mitja, Alvaro Martins, Carlos Pimenta and Aníbal Fernandes.
